Atenas is known as having the “Best Climate in the World” as noted by National Geographic. However, this town’s real charm is its people. Many a visiting tourist has decided that not only is Costa Rica the place where he or she wants to live, but Atenas is the only place that has everything that would make it a great place to live. In a beautiful rural area with sun almost every day of the year, Atenas maintains its small-town charm while being big enough to offer a plenitude of services to visit or stay. In addition, it is only 30 minutes to the national airport and the large city of Alajuela and only one hour to San Jose.
If it is a beach environment that draws your attention, Atenas is only an hour away from the nearest beaches. If the heat of the volcano is a draw, Atenas is only 1 1/2 hours to the Poas Volcano and National Park. So, near to it all and yet away from it all--just perfect.
