It was previously in the main path of the oxcarts. A sight of hospitable accommodations for those who are transferring from the Pacific Coast to San Jose to rest. Witness to the movement of the exportation of coffee and materials that were imported for the construction of important buildings for the development of Costa Rica, like the National Theater and the San Juan de Dios Hospital, and those required for the highway to Limon. There were commonly about 400 carts per day passing through to rest or to spend the night and see the splendid sunrise and take the new route.
